An interest in all things military and a passion for art led Tom to start painting soldiers from a young age. Although studying art through school and college he is largely self taught, coming from an artistic family. At 18 he decided on a military career rather than going to art school – a path that has always gone hand-in-hand with his love of art. His preferred medium is oil paint on canvas or board though sometimes he uses gouache for smaller pieces.
